Trial Lesson  (Air Experience Flight)

If you have always wanted to try a helicopter, book yourself a Trial Lesson at Cranfield Helicopters Ltd and experience the thrill of taking control of a helicopter. It could be the first step to your Private Pilot's Licence, and who knows, one day you could take things further and begin a career as a helicopter pilot.

We offer Trial Lessons in the Robinson R44 and the very agile R22. Or, if your budget stretches a little further, climb on board a turbine-powered B206 Jetranger or AS350 Squirrel and learn to fly in style! Prior to the flight, your instructor will provide a ground briefing giving you an introduction to how a helicopter flies and how to control it in flight.

During the flight your Instructor will demonstrate the manoeuvres unique to exhilarating helicopter flight and after some expert tuition will invite you to take control of the helicopter under their supervision.

Following the flight, any questions you may have can be answered by your instructor during the post flight de-brief.

Should you wish to purchase Trial Lesson/Air Experience Flight for that someone special we sell Gift Vouchers valid for six months which can be presented to them. The lucky recipient can then contact us direct to book a convenient time for them to visit us at Cranfield Airport to take their flight.

Safety Courses and Recurrent Training

Cranfield Helicopters Ltd. are able to conduct Recurrent Training and Safety Courses for the Bell 206 JetRanger series. Our safety courses identify those areas of helicopter flight operations that have the potential to cause the most problems, and will explain how to recognise the developing stages of some critical flight conditions, and the correct recovery techniques. We can conduct “one to one” individually tailored courses, or courses in the form of a seminar with several participants. We encourage owners to participate in their own machines, please call to confirm current course price.

Self Fly Hire

The Bell JetRanger, Robinson R44 and R22 helicopters are available from our fleet for
pilots to self-fly hire . Please contact us for details of our competitive rates.
